Southwest LRT-related Archaeological Dig

15 Aug

I got this message from the City of St. Louis Park. Thought it was worth sharing.

Dear Neighborhood Leaders,

I am writing to let you know that there will be some work taking place on City property related to the SW LRT project in the coming week or two.  The property affected is in the southwest corner of the City, near the intersection of Minnehaha Creek and the Cedar Lake Trail / Freight Rail corridor – between the Meadowbrook and South Oak Hill neighborhoods.  The work is part of an archeological survey that is required as part of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.  The survey crews will be out walking the property along the creek and may do some hand digging.  There will be no heavy equipment on site, just personnel.  The people on site are employed by a private firm under contract with the Metropolitan Council.

If you happen to receive any questions about the people on site in the next week or so, please feel free to direct them to Kevin Locke (952-924-2580) or myself.  Meg McMonigal (952-924-2573) is also an appropriate contact but will be out of the office until 8/27.

Please feel free to share this information with any interested neighbors.

Thanks,

Adam
