Annual grant application due April 5

15 Mar

It’s that time of year again. Our application to the City of St. Louis Park for their neighborhood matching grant is due April 5.

In the past, we have used it to try a few other activities like an ice cream social, neighborhood garage sale and other meetings. However, the most successful activities have been the pizza party and BBQ/potluck. The grant funds make these events possible by offsetting a portion of the costs.

There are some limitations to what can be funded. We’re encouraged to be creative, but the guidelines say the funds are “for activities that physically improve the neighborhood, enhance the sense of community within the neighborhood, support citizen involvement, or develop neighborhood leadership.” There’s also some funding for environmental projects.

I’ve included the 2013 Grant Guidelines in case anyone else has any ideas they’d like to see us consider (they also need to be willing to run the event or lead the effort). I am also glad to hand over the reins of applying for the grant to anyone who is interested. Because we’ve done it for a few years, it’s not too complicated.

Questions? Want to discuss an idea with me? Want to take over the application process? Email me at or call me at 612-850-9030.

Looking forward to seeing you all out and about — walking around the neighborhood, out in your gardens, at Edgebrook Park…
